A plethora of online MBA courses have mushroomed to cater to the needs of these segments. The main advantages of online MBA degrees are convenience and affordability. With many traditional accreditation boards recognizing such programs, recruiters are growing increasingly comfortable with hiring people from online universities.
Importance of GMAT and GRE Scores for MBA Institutes
Business schools traditionally rely on the GMAT for shortlisting potential candidates. A high score is usually enough to secure a seat in an elite institute. Cases in point include the prestigious Wharton School (University of Pennsylvania) and Harvard Business School – the managerial courses of both schools are open only to people with a score of 700 and above.
The average score usually is around 600 – hence admission is not an impossible feat. The difficulty in securing seats stems from the sheer number of applications vying for each spot. The GRE is a more comprehensive test which covers a large amount of subject matter. However, almost all Ivy league colleges disregard GRE scores in favor of the GMAT.

There are numerous online MBA degrees which do not require GMAT or GRE scores as prerequisites. This can be a result of poor course enrollment. In the case of overwhelmingly high enrollments, reputable online universities can fall back on test results.
Online MBA courses are more likely to exempt seasoned professionals from taking the GRE or GMAT (Best Buy Online MBA). This can be attributed to the valuable experience and knowledge they bring to the table. There are some MBA institutes which will admit students who have more than four years of work experience, without taking GMAT into account.
Best Online MBA Programs From US Universities
Both the Northeastern University and the Colorado State University offer AACSB accredited online MBA courses. AACSB is the oldest and most reputed accreditation authority. The waiver is applicable only for applicants who have a verifiable mid or upper management level work history and a high undergraduate GPA.
Top Indian Online EMBA Programs for Non-GMAT Students
Manipal University in India, which offers specializations in Finance, HR, Marketing and Information systems in their two year online EMBA (classes on weekends along wide online support), also doesn't consider GMAT scores. Any student with over two years of relevant work experience can apply for their MBA program.
The NIIT (Imperia) EMBA program offers a crisp 18-month Executive MBA Program, recognized by AICTE. This post graduate degree is open to all students who hold a bachelor degree in any field of study. It's a high quality EMBA program and doesn't consider GMAT a mandatory requirement.
Other Options for non GMAT Students
Most online programs accredited on the national level eliminate the need for GMAT and GRE testing. The Distance Education and Training Council, the Accrediting Commission of Career Schools and Colleges of Technology and the Accrediting Council for Independent Colleges and Schools are responsible for granting national accreditations. GetEducated.com lists several nationally accredited online MBA programs which do not consider the GRE and the GMAT as an enrollment per-qualifier.
